THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MRS EMILY KAFOMDI MORDI

Mrs Mordi was born Emily Ifeanyi Kafomdi Chima to Mr and Mrs Gabriel Chima of Ukpatu Village, Obomkpa Town in Delta State, Nigeria. She was born on August 18, 1955.

She attended St. James Anglican School, Agbor in Delta State for her primary school education. She had her secondary school education at Ujom Grammar School, Asaba, Delta State. There, she was Prefect and School Time-Keeper. One of the school’s comments of her reads: “Very responsible and reliable girl. Friendly, helpful, and willing.” She had these very same qualities till she passed on to glory.

Mrs Emily Kafomdi Mordi developed a love for education at a young age and immediately began showing it as a teenager by teaching at the then Pilgrim Baptist Primary School, now known as Ofunne Primary School in her hometown.

She got her Teachers Grade 2 Certification in December 1980. She went on to study in the College of Education, Agbor, and was issued the Nigeria Certificate in Education by the Institute of Education, University of Benin, in March 1986.

She married Mr. Cosmas N. Mordi (1951-2004), of the same Obomkpa town in 1979 with whom she moved to Kaduna State where she began her career in Education. Here, she also became a Christian and began serving God with her life. They had 8 children together whom she loved greatly till she passed.

She began teaching at Abubakar Gummi College, Tudun-Wada, Kaduna. She proceeded to teach at Christ Ambassadors College, Sabon Tasha Kaduna, from 1997-2019 before retiring. While there, she got her Bachelor of Education (Administration and Planning) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna, in August 2001.

A primary and major part of the life of Mrs Emily Kafomdi Mordi was her Christianity, for which she was known by everyone who met her. She was a member of Deeper Life Bible Church for over 40 years and was a woman leader till she passed.

She preached the Gospel all her Christian life, contributing her time, energy, and resources to the work in the House of God. Her faith in God was unmistakable and unshakable till her very last day on earth. She left this world with the Word of God on her lips, praising God and declaring her identity in Christ as she breathed her last. Everyone who knew her can testify that she loved the Lord and lived her life for Him.

Rest on, dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, colleague, and friend. We shall meet again at the rapture of the church in the presence of our God.
